Bonaire

1 What is the currency on Bonaire?
  • On Bonaire, you’ll pay using the United States Dollar ($). You’ll be able to withdraw money using your bank card, with ATMs available all over the island. Bringing Dollars from The Netherlands is not required, you will be able to withdraw money upon arrival at the airport.
2 Do we need any vaccinations?
  • No special vaccinations are needed on Bonaire. Please do make sure to remember your personal medication.
  • Health care on the island is high quality and a hospital is available.
  • Do you use medication? Make sure to bring enough of it with you.
  • Ask your pharmacy to print an overview of your medication for you. This will include all details of your medication as well as other matters such as allergies.
3 How big is the time difference on Bonaire?
  • Bonaire is located in the Atlantic Time Zone: GMT -4. Bonaire does not adhere to daylight saving time.
  • The time difference when compared to The Netherlands is 6 hours during summer and 5 hours during winter.
4 What kind of temperatures can we expect?
  • Bonaire experiences a very even climate. Temperatures are virtually constant all year round: 30 degrees°C during the day, and 25°C at night. A pleasant trade wind blows all year, making sure the temperature doesn’t feel to hot. Bonaire does not get a lot of rain, and when it does they come in the form of tropical showers. Short and intense, but almost always followed by the sun breaking through again. The rainy season is from halfway through November until halfway through January.
  • The water temperature in Bonaire varies from 79 degrees Fahrenheit/26 degrees Celsius in February and March to 84 degrees Fahrenheit/29 degrees Celsius in September and Oktober. With these temperatures for most people diving is very comfortable in Bonaire.
5 Are there any supermarkets nearby?
  • Van den Tweel Supermarket (Albert Heijn) is the biggest on the Island and has free parking spots. Address: 39 Kaya Industria, Kralendijk.
  • Bondigro Supermarket is comparable to Aldi or Lidl. Address: 29 Kaya Industria, Kralendijk.
  • Wholesale Warehouse Bonaire. Address: 24 Kaya Industria, Kralendijk.
6 How far is it to the ocean?
  • All our houses are close to the Ocean! In 4 houses you can enter the ocean from the deck. (Eco Beach houses)

Diving

1 How do we wash our diving gear?
  • We have hoses and sinks to rinse your diving and snorkelling gear. If you work with Flamingo Diving they will support you with cleaning facilities
2 Do I need to be an experienced diver?
  • We always refer our guests to Flamingo Diving, they offer diving for divers from every skill level, from beginner to advanced.
3 Where to get diving gear?
  • If you need a master to get acquainted with the Ocean or any equipment, you can contact Flamingo Diving.

Rentals

1 Is transport arranged from the airport to the House?
  • If you do not arrive by rental car, we can arrange a transfer to and from the airport upon request. Our driver will await you in the arrival hall and transport you directly to one of our houses on Bonaire. If you wish to take advantage of this service, we kindly request you to contact us.
2 Which voltage do we use in your houses?
  • At our resorts, you’ll be able to use 220V connections. A European plug will suffice. Plug adapters for Europe (230 Volts) and the United States (130 Volts) are available in the houses.

Reservations

2 Is it possible to arrive before 3 PM?
  • We have to consider the departing guests before 11 AM. Most of the time the houses are cleaned just before 2:30 PM. If you are a bit early you can drop your goods and go to a supermarket or have lunch.
3 How is the check in process?
  • We provide a personal check-in at the property itself on the day of arrival.
  • The check-in time is after 3 pm.
  • The check-out time is 11 am.
4 How far ahead should we make a reservation?
  • To ensure availability, we suggest you place your order as soon as your travel plans are confirmed. Mostly that is around a year in advance.

1 Is it possible to rent a car on Bonaire?
  • Yes, it is possible to rent a car on Bonaire. At Bonaire Airport alone there are already 5 car rental places.

  • Bonaire is one of the safest islands in the Caribbean. Besides that, we do have our own security in the streets during dinner time, since they are high-end rental houses.
5 How much electricity can we use?
  • Caribbean consumers face some of the highest energy prices globally due to heavy reliance on expensive and volatile fossil fuel imports. Please use electricity wisely, especially with the air conditioning. So 25 USD per day is free ( 50 KWH) With normal use and airco policy you will not exceed.
6 When are the grocery stores open on Bonaire?
  • The stores are open from 8 am – 8 pm every day. We always have a few snacks and drinks in the fridge for our guests, must they arrive later.
